With so many things to see and do in this wonderful city, sorting out the wheat from the chaff is not an easy undertaking. To make this doubly hard, there is not that much 'chaff' in the first place, so deciding on where to take your children on a fun day out in Manchester can end up being a bit of a chore in itself! To make this decision a little easier for you we have compiled a list of a few of the most popular attractions and amenities in the city of Manchester.

One of the most popular attractions in the Trafford Center and possibly in the whole of Manchester is the Legoland Discovery Center. With a huge range of things to do including rollercoaster rides, a cinema, miniature reconstructions of local and national monuments amongst many other things, the Legoland Discovery Center is sure to be a hit with kids of any age.

Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry is a wonderful museum showcasing primarily Manchester's involvement in the development of technology, industry and science. There are some great exhibitions, some containing interactive displays that are almost guaranteed to cause much excitement amongst every child. The MOSI is located in the Castleford area and also contains regularly updated special exhibitions on display all year round.

Sometimes, rather than deciding on taking your kids to places where they can learn or develop certain skills, you just want to get them to a place where they can wear themselves out by climbing, running and playing with their brothers, sisters or other children. All across Manchester there are many of these indoor play centers that cater for exactly this occasion. Some of the most popular are the Head Over Heels Play Center in Chorlton, the Wacky Warehouse in East Didsbury, and the Land of Play Indoor Play Center in Trafford Park.

If your children are into karting, there are a couple of venues in Manchester to suit them depending on their ages. Daytona Motorsport own 3 venues in the UK in Milton Keynes, Sandown Park and Manchester. The Manchester venue is a heated indoor kart track with karts available for 5-7 year olds as well as 8 year olds. There are also larger, faster karts available for adults if you want to have a go too!

With being the 2010 winner of the Manchester Tourism 'Access For All' award, the Chill Factore indoor alpine ski resort is the perfect place to take your family out on an alternative fun packed adventure. From tubing to sledging, skiing and snowboarding, and even a huge ice slide, there is something for everyone, including even professional skiers and snowboarders!
