Villas In France To Suit Every Taste And Pocket

by Mike Meyer

Many people who've read the series of books written by the well known Carol Drinkwater describing her idyllic lifestyle on a small olive farm in the southern part of France, can think of no life more worth living than one in a stylish French villa overlooking the rolling hills of southern France. Villas in France unfortunately don't come cheap. Most of us therefore have to be satisfied with a holiday in a French villa for a week or two.

There are many reasons why such a lot of people love villas in France. In the first place the weather is better than in northern Europe. Especially in the South of France, one has mild winters and lovely warm summers. In the very south, it's not uncommon to have beautiful sunny days in the middle of winter.

Fortunately there's a substantial market in villa rentals and you will therefore have a long list to choose from. Most of these villas come fully equipped. You will have a modern kitchen and a lounge with cable television and sound equipment. Often there's even a pool to relax in during those warm sunny days.

French villas are not just meant for relaxing though. It would be close to a cardinal sin if you stayed in a villa for a week or two and not explore the towns and cities in the vicinity. You will be amazed at what the country has to offer in terms of natural beauty and historical sites. Everywhere you will find ancient little market towns, beautiful cathedrals and churches and in the south also still lots of natural forests and of course lovely beaches.

The larger towns and cities all boast good shopping facilities. If you are a culture lover, you will no doubt love the large number of art galleries and museums throughout the country. Theater lovers will also not be disappointed, no matter where they stay.

The French have always loved their festivals and regardless of where you find yourself, if you spend a week or two in the country you are likely to run into some sort of festival. These vary from the traditional festivals you find in small towns to the glitzy film festivals of the French Riviera. In between there are numerous dance and music festivals as well.

When you book one of the many available villas in France, first make sure you find out all relevant facts. If you don't have a car at your disposal, don't select a place that's twenty miles/kilometers from the nearest town. Also make sure that you fully understand what's included in the price and what not. If you plan to permanently move to France, renting a villa for a couple of weeks is a great way to make sure that you will fit in with the French way of life.
